Rainer Ulrich - butterfly researcher, author, and photographer from Eppelborn takes the listeners into the wonderful world of colorful butterflies
The well-known butterfly researcher and photographer Rainer Ulrich from the Eppelborn district of Wiesbach will take visitors on a journey into the enchanting world of colorful butterflies with captivating photos. Ulrich has authored four highly regarded books about butterflies published by the renowned Stuttgart-based KOSMOS nature book publisher. In this lecture, he presents his newly released field guide for beginners from spring 2022, titled “Who Flutters Here?”. The lecture takes viewers on a visual journey with vibrant images and surprising insights into the fantastic world of butterflies. The enormous diversity of the native butterfly fauna is showcased: from the magnificent “national butterfly,” the swallowtail, to the “hummingbird butterfly,” the hawk moth, and the brilliantly blue shining admiral butterflies, guests at the event will encounter a dazzling world full of various butterflies. The fascinating transformation from egg to caterpillar, chrysalis, and finally the fully formed butterfly, is not to be missed.
Another focus of the lecture is the topic "The Butterfly-Friendly Garden." The speaker and author Ulrich provides practical tips on how to permanently attract butterflies to the garden with small, easy-to-implement measures. Step by step, your own garden can be transformed into a refuge for butterflies. By the way: In the small Saarland alone, over 2,500 different butterfly species fly!
