The health department of the regional association reports 272 new COVID-19 cases today (as of September 19, 4 PM). The number of newly reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days rises to 331 according to internal calculations. Of the 272 new COVID-19 cases, around 37 percent concern the group aged 40 to 60, with around 10 percent the share of those under 20 remains the lowest.

In the past seven days, 1,084 people in the regional association have been infected with the coronavirus. Of these, 554 live in Saarbrücken, 112 in Völklingen, 70 in Heusweiler, 65 in Sulzbach, 61 in Riegelsberg, 60 in Quierschied, 59 in Püttlingen, 44 in Kleinblittersdorf, 30 in Friedrichsthal, and 29 in Großrosseln.
Corona case numbers since the beginning of the pandemic
In total, the regional association has 129,166 confirmed cases that have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 70,053 are in the state capital and 59,113 in the nine surrounding towns and municipalities. The number of deaths related to the coronavirus stands at 809.
