On Monday morning, around 11 a.m., a residential fire was reported in a multi-family house on Glashütter Street in St. Ingbert. Upon arrival of the first police units from St. Ingbert, thick smoke was detected coming from one of the upper apartments in the three-story residential building. The residents were evacuated from the house even before the fire department arrived. The affected apartment of a 72-year-old man was identified as the fire location. The microwave caught fire due to misuse. Initial extinguishing efforts by the man himself and later by the fire department prevented further spread of the fire. Only the man's own furnishings were damaged. No personal injuries occurred. The man was admitted to a nearby hospital due to his poor health condition, unrelated to the fire incident. After ventilation of the apartment and the stairwell, the residential building was deemed habitable again. In addition to the police units, the St. Ingbert fire department with several fire trucks and the emergency medical service with an emergency doctor were on site. Minor impacts on traffic flow occurred on Glashütter Street and Rentamtstraße for about 45 minutes.
