To fulfill their diverse tasks, fire departments increasingly need equipment and devices that cannot be accommodated in conventional firefighting and special vehicles. The logistics equipment vehicle *2* is now available, which on the one hand has a *very* large volume in the loading area and, on the other hand, offers two equipment compartments for firefighting loads. The vehicle can be quickly loaded and unloaded via a tail lift.
The vehicle can thus be loaded depending on the type of operation. For example, the vehicle can be used as a hose truck. In this case, a portable pump and 1000 meters of B hoses are available. Depending on the operational keyword, additional roll containers can be loaded or unloaded. Five new roll containers have also been procured for the equipment vehicle. These include a roll container "Special Extinguishing Agents" with, among other things, foam agents and foam/water monitors; a container "Severe Weather" with various pumps, power generators, and permanent suction units; a roll container "Rescue" with a truck rescue platform, multipurpose winch, two hydraulic buffalo winches, as well as various rescue woods; a roll container "Fall Protection" with the associated equipment sets for fall protection, ascent/descent devices, and a rescue basket stretcher; a roll container "Lighting" with various stands, lighting units, and its own power generator.
The roll containers with equipment already located in the fire district are added to the possible loading.
The equipment vehicle is based on a MAN chassis with a permissible total weight of 16 tons. The fire service-specific bodywork was carried out by Ziegler Feuerschutz GmbH in Rendsburg. After nearly a year of construction, the Uchtelfangen fire district was able to receive the new vehicle shortly before Christmas 2021. With procurement costs of around 314,000 euros, the Illingen fire department now has a versatile, modern, and very well-equipped new vehicle at its disposal, ready for deployment in a wide range of missions to protect the population.
Last weekend, the new logistics vehicle 2 was commissioned with a small ceremony as part of the Flammkuchen Festival of the Uchtelfangen Fire District. The deputy mayor Dieter Schwarz handed over the symbolic key together with the deputy fire chief Heribert Zimmer to the fire district commander Roland Rachor. The vehicle was solemnly blessed by Pastor Bokumabi.
With the Logistics Vehicle 2, two vehicles were replaced at the Uchtelfangen fire district. The LF 16-TS was decommissioned after 38 years, and the Logistics Vehicle 1 (GW-L1) was transferred to the fleet of the East fire district.
