The Health Department of the Saarbrücken Regional Association offers all citizens, as part of a Saarland-wide testing week from September 26 to 30, free and anonymous testing for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, as well as counseling services with extended opening hours. "An HIV infection cannot be cured, but with the right medications, it can be treated well. The Saarland-wide testing week also aims to draw attention to the free services of the AIDS counseling center of our Health Department. The earlier you know, the better you can respond to the infection," said Regional Association Director Peter Gillo.
The AIDS counseling center at the health department of the Regional Association offers a "protected space" where everyone can individually clarify their questions about transmission routes, infection risks, and protection options in a personal conversation. The counseling is always tailored to the specific situation and questions of those seeking advice. In addition to HIV, testing for other sexually transmitted infections such as syphilis is also available.
During the test week, extended opening hours apply at the AIDS counseling center at Stengelstraße 10-12 in Alt-Saarbrücken. It is then open Monday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. An appointment must be made in advance by phone at 0681 506-5358 or -5359.
