On Friday, 16.09.2022 at around 09:42 a.m., a unit from the Völklingen Police Station noticed a silver Mercedes (C-Class) with Luxembourgish license plates. The vehicle was to be subjected to a traffic check on Hohenzollernstraße. The driver immediately disregarded all stop signals, accelerated the vehicle, and then fled at excessive speed via the Südtangente towards Bous. At the junction with Bismarckstraße, the traffic light showed red. Several vehicles were stopped at the traffic light. The Mercedes drove over the adjacent green strip past the waiting cars, causing the rear of the vehicle to skid due to its speed. A collision occurred only by chance. The vehicle then turned right into Schirrbachstraße, then left into Hofstattstraße, and finally right again into Etzelstraße. Shortly afterwards, the vehicle was stopped in a dead-end street and the occupants were arrested. The attached license plates did not match the Mercedes. Furthermore, the well-known driver was not in possession of a driving license and was under the influence of narcotics. A blood sample was taken from the driver. Appropriate investigations have been initiated.
