It is getting quieter in St. Ingbert: To better protect residents from railway noise with new noise barriers in the future, Deutsche Bahn (DB) plans to implement several noise mitigation measures as part of the program "Noise Remediation on Existing Federal Railway Lines." Specifically, the construction of five noise barriers is planned, which will be built starting in January 2024. DB intends to provide information about the further planning in a digital citizen participation event. The initial focus will be on two of the total five noise barriers planned between the Albertus-Magnus-Gymnasium and Blieskasteler Straße.
Digital Citizen Participation on September 27, 2022
All interested parties from St. Ingbert are cordially invited to participate in the digital event on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, from 6 p.m.

About Noise Remediation
The program "Noise Abatement on Existing Railway Tracks of the Federal Railways" has been funded by the federal government since 1999. This created the financial means to implement noise protection measures along existing railway tracks as well.
Since then, over 1.8 billion euros have been invested in noise mitigation for more than 2,100 kilometers of railway lines and around 65,500 residential units. In 2021 alone, over 44 kilometers of noise barriers were completed and around 150 million euros spent. By 2030, noise mitigation is expected to relieve more than half of all residents living near existing railway tracks from the noise of passing trains.
Noise abatement is a voluntary service provided by the federal government. Soundproof walls as well as soundproof windows and ventilators in buildings are funded. In individual cases, insulation of exterior facades and roofs is also partially financed. Since noise abatement measures increase the value of the property, the owners bear one quarter of the costs.
