All kinds of delicious treats from the region will once again be presented at this year's Saar-Pfalz Country Market, which invites visitors on Saturday, September 24, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to the Historic Marketplace and Eisenbahnstraße up to the Rondell. Visitors to the Country Market in downtown Homburg can bite into crisp fresh apples, leisurely stroll among the sales stands with a wild game sausage, and enjoy a "good drop" of drink, among many other things. The little guests will also have their fun, as alpacas will be visiting again.
The farmers' market is also gaining increasing popularity among vendors and producers. This year, around 42 exhibitors from Saarland, the neighboring Rhineland-Palatinate, and France will once again be selling their products from their own cultivation and production at their stands.
The focus of the offer is on seasonal local products from organic farming as well as fruit and horticulture. Above all, fresh game, apples, and pumpkins for the Halloween festival, as well as attractive decorative items and plants, will once again draw attention.
Among the special features of the landmark market are, in addition to seasonal fruits and vegetables, products from game and goats in many variations, such as goat cheese, grilled or natural, meat and sausage products. Diverse and unique products from the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve and the Saar-Pfalz region, such as honey from the beekeeper, delicious whole grain baked goods, or homemade liqueurs, jams, apple juice, and edible oils from the region, tempt customers to buy.
A children's activity corner like three years ago will be set up this year in the center of the market on Eisenbahnstraße, at the passage to La-Baule-Platz. There, young and old visitors will be able to marvel at many things. Alpacas for viewing will also be on site. Those who want to craft diligently can build an insect hotel or sew their own leather pouch.
The Saarpfalz Tourism and the city of Homburg are also present at the marketplace, informing guests about the Saarpfalz district and the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve. The country market is supported by the Homburg municipal utilities.
Parking spaces are available on September 24th, among others, in the municipal parking garage from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and throughout the entire city center. On this Saturday, La-Baule-Platz is reserved as a parking area for vendors from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is therefore not available as a parking lot.
The exhibitor directories for the Saar-Pfalz country market are available in shops in Homburg, as well as at the information desks of the town hall and district administration.
