On Friday, September 23, 2022, the Dirndl and Lederhosen season begins again in Merzig. Visitors to the Merzig Oktoberfest can once again look forward to an attractive and varied program, which this year can be held without any restrictions. The showmen and the district town of Merzig cordially invite the public to the festival grounds next to the Merzig town hall.
Traditionally, the festival week starts on Friday, 23.09.2022, with the “Merziger Schlager Night”. The Karlsberg Brewery, in cooperation with the festival tent hosts, will present the Karlsberg Feierabend. The musical guest that evening will be the party band “EchtSTARK”, who will offer the best Schlager treats for dancing and singing along. Additionally, “TEAM 5ünf” with Marc Terenzi and Jay Khan will perform in the festival tent.
Important for an attractive Oktoberfest is also the great commitment of the showmen. "Every year," says Mayor Marcus Hoffeld, "the showmen's families are actively involved and bring great rides to Merzig." Many attractions, such as high-speed carousels and other special rides, promise unique experiences for the fair visitors. The Ferris wheel, visible from afar, will also provide a great view over Merzig and the event grounds. The fair will start daily at 2:00 p.m.
On Saturday, 24.09.2022, the procession into the festival tent, accompanied by the „Merchinger Hauskapelle“, and the official keg tapping will ensure a lively Oktoberfest atmosphere. “On Saturday evening, we will present to you this year the „Best of Band“, which stands out from other bands due to its absolute versatility,” Mayor Marcus Hoffeld previewed the opening night. The band will perform everything from party hits to rock classics that will guarantee the best mood in the festival tent.
On the Sunday open for sales, 25.09.2022, to which the district town of Merzig and the VHG warmly invite you, there will once again be attractive offers from retailers in the city center.
But even in the festival tent, visitors will be offered a lot this Sunday. In particular, children will get their money's worth around noon. At 2:30 p.m., the schlager duo "Mats and Papa" will be guests, and from 3:00 p.m., the man with the red horse, Markus Becker, will perform his popular children's program.
From 4:00 PM, the “Jugendorchester Bietzen-Merchingen” and the “Jugendorchester JoLive des MV Euterpe” will entertain the audience with music. Afterwards, the “MV Euterpe” will present traditional brass and folk songs in the festival tent.
“The traditional Krammarkt will attract numerous visitors to Merzig on Monday and Tuesday (September 26 and 27, 2022),” Hoffeld explains, adding that many well-known stars will present their hits on Monday evening in the Oktoberfest tent. In addition to the „Atzen” and „Tim Toupet”, „Axel Fischer” will also bring the atmosphere in the festival tent to a boiling point. Furthermore, the „Midnight Ladies”, the youngest and most attractive girls' band from Bavaria, will be guests.
On Wednesday, 28.10.2022, the party queen of Mallorca will be a guest in the festival tent; „Mia Julia“ will make the tent shake with her songs. The evening will be framed by the „Kamelle Kapelle“, the carnival and mood band, who will once again have Kölsche music, New German Wave, and Schlager in their repertoire.
The Family Day on Thursday, 29.09.2022, attracts visitors from 1:00 PM with discounted ride and game prices.
In the evening, the grand celebration for companies, authorities, and clubs, which is presented by Sparkasse Merzig-Wadern together with the festival tent hosts, takes place. For this evening, there is a top-class serving event with the band "Freibier", who will turn the festival tent into a boiling brew house.
On Friday, 09/30/2022, "Die Vagabunden", who belong to the absolute top league of party and mood bands, will heat up the audience.
On Saturday, 01.10.2022, the Viezfest day and highlight of the Oktoberfest week, „LOONA“ will bring great atmosphere to the Oktoberfest tent with her hit „Bailando“. Also present that evening will be „TOBBE“ and the „Mountain Crew“.
Sunday, 02.10.2022, from 2:00 p.m., the “Kapelle Edelweis” will entertain the audience with authentic Bavarian brass and folk music. In the evening, under the motto “Celebrate and dance until morning comes,” “TOLLHAUS PARTY & DANCE” will rock the festival tent. Furthermore, “Schürze” will be a guest with his number 1 hit Layla.
For musical entertainment on the closing day, Monday, 03.10.2022, at the 1st Festival of Brass Music starting at 2:00 pm, the Musikvereinigung Merchingen, at 3:00 pm the Musikverein Bietzen, at 4:00 pm the Musikverein Büdingen, and in the evening the professional group "Alpenblech", which will play Bohemian-Moravian music, polka, march, and waltz from the Alpine region. The event will conclude with a gigantic fireworks display.
As in previous years, the festival tent operators Thomas Sonnier and Christof Spangenberger with their team will once again take care of the catering in the Merzig Oktoberfest tent. This year, there will again be a beer garden in front and elevated VIP lounges.
Mayor Hoffeld extends his special thanks to the festival tent operators as well as the showmen and also gives great compliments to the employees of the Merzig city administration for the program design and organization of the Oktoberfest. Furthermore, he expresses his gratitude to all those who make an Oktoberfest of this magnitude possible through their commitment.

But the celebration in the festival tent is not over yet! The festival tent hosts, in coordination with the district town of Merzig, have decided to keep the festival tent up for another weekend and to offer a wide-ranging music program under the motto „Merzig dances“.
On Friday, 07.10.2022, the party band „Wies’n Stürmer“ will perform hit party songs. Additionally, the Mallorca stars „Markus Becker“, „Honk“ and „Lorenz Büffel“ will present their party songs to the audience.
Saturday, 08.10.2022, is dedicated, among other things, to music lovers who enjoy oldies. “The Alligators” will present classics from the 50s and 60s, while fans of the 70s and 80s will be pleased with “Barmherzige Plateausohlen”. The evening will be rounded off with a performance by “PINK DELUXE”, a Pink tribute band from Italy.
