After a brief welcome by Regional Association Director Peter Gillo, vhs Director Dr. Carolin Lehberger, the Head of the State Center for Political Education Dr. Erik Harms-Immand, as well as Education Minister Christine Streichert-Clivot, René Sydow, cabaret artist and author, will give his lecture: "Education vs. Knowledge – is the classical ideal of education still appropriate in times of the internet?".
The event is musically accompanied by the children's choir of the Saarland State Theatre with support from the Saarland Choral Association e.V.
About the speaker: https://www.rene-sydow.de
“How do we want to learn and what do we want to retain? Is our traditional ideal of education still appropriate in the age of the internet? Do we still need poetry when we have Wikipedia? Do we need Plato in the era of Elon Musk? And where is all the knowledge that we lose in the flood of information? A humorous lecture about what is or should be in our minds.”
Following the lecture, long-serving instructors of the vhs Regional Association Saarbrücken will be honored.
