On Thursday evening (08/09/2022), units of the target manhunt division of the State Police Headquarters arrested a 71-year-old in Spiesen-Elversberg. After being ordered to begin his sentence for multiple sexual offenses, the man had gone into hiding.
The Saarbrücken Regional Court sentenced the 71-year-old man to two years and eight months in prison for multiple cases of serious sexual abuse of children. After his conviction, the man, who was registered in Saarbrücken, did not begin his prison sentence and remained in hiding. Intensive investigations carried out in cooperation between the special task force and FASt (Investigation/Recognition of Street Crime) of the Saarbrücken City Police Directorate led to an address in Spiesen-Elversberg. Operational measures verified his alleged location in the said apartment, and the wanted man was able to be arrested there by special task force officers at around 6:30 pm.
The 71-year-old was subsequently taken to the Saarbrücken correctional facility, where he is now serving his prison sentence.
