The members and friends of the DRK local association Habach extensively celebrated their milestone birthday last weekend. In addition to a shared lunch and a varied children's program on Sunday, a festive evening on Saturday invited everyone to celebrate in the forest park of SV Habach. Among the well-wishers was also the mayor of Eppelborn, Feld. He thanked all the actors of the local association for their decades of work and loyalty to the German Red Cross. “Volunteering for the welfare of others is a great service to our society. At DRK Habach, diverse tasks are undertaken in numerous areas of work. For this, I express my gratitude!” said the mayor. Words of thanks and recognition were also conveyed by state parliament member Alwin Theobald.
The local chapter was founded in November 1962. Prior to that, seven people from the then still independent municipality of Habach had already been involved in the DRK Eppelborn and had established several accident aid stations. The first exercise took place as early as 1963, and the first first aid course was also conducted. The local chapter grew continuously. In addition to technical services as one of the first key tasks, numerous other areas such as first aid and medical services, care and catering services, disaster control, social work, and youth work were added. Currently, the OV Habach has around 220 members. Of these, 15 are in the youth Red Cross and 35 are active helpers.
The DRK local association Habach provides medical support annually for the central run in Habach and has recently been involved in the following major operations, among others, in the Neunkirchen district: SR3-Sommeralm in Landsweiler/Reden (catering for the emergency personnel), medical services at 3rd Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal matches in Elversberg, during the flood disaster in the Ahr valley (supporting the medical service), as well as during extended firefighting operations such as in Dirmingen (catering for the fire department).
A special thanks, explained Mayor Andreas Feld, goes to Habach local mayor Peter Dörr, who led the DRK Habach as chairman for decades, and to his current successor Daniel Ziegler, with whom a good and diligent successor was found.
Arno Meiser took the numerous guests of honor on an entertaining journey through time in his unique way.
Chairman Daniel Ziegler, together with the district readiness leader Jörg Leist and the deputy chairman of the DRK district association Neunkirchen e.V., Friedel König, honored deserving members. In total, 34 people were honored, as several ceremonies had to be postponed due to Corona. "I thank all members who have been committed to their club for decades. I am particularly pleased that four members can be honored for their 60 years of loyalty. They joined the club on November 30, 1962, the founding day. They are the founding mothers and fathers and were instrumental in
