The Health Department of the Regional Association reports 137 new corona cases today (as of September 8, 4 p.m.). The number of newly reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days rises to 225.3 according to internal calculations. Of the 137 new corona cases, around 35 percent affect the age group of 20 to 40 years, 28 percent fall into the age group of 40 to 60 years. With around 16 percent, the proportion of those under 20 years has continued to increase but is still the lowest at present.
7-day total of new infections by cities and municipalities
In the past seven days, 738 people in the regional association have been infected with the coronavirus. Of these, 379 live in Saarbrücken, 71 in Völklingen, 60 in Sulzbach, 44 in Quierschied, 37 in Heusweiler, 36 in Friedrichsthal, 34 each in Kleinblittersdorf, Püttlingen, and Riegelsberg, as well as 9 in Großrosseln.
Corona case numbers since the beginning of the pandemic
In total, there are 127,758 confirmed cases in the regional association that have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 69,343 are attributed to the state capital and 58,415 to the nine cities and municipalities in the surrounding area. The number of deaths associated with the coronavirus stands at 804.
