Three world shops and the action day "fair-regional-global" in Homburg are on the tour on September 10th.
The action day „fair-regional-global“ in Homburg is the destination of a guided early bird bike tour led by Ursula Hubertus from ADFC Saar and Peter Weichardt, One World specialist promoter for Fair Trade in Saarland, on Saturday, September 10th. It is also possible to join for partial sections. The moderate bike tour organized by ADFC Saar in cooperation with the Fairtrade Initiative Saarland leads mostly over car-free and low-gradient routes from one World Shop to another, with information and small fair refreshments from around the world at the three Fair Trade specialty stores: the World Shop "Kreuz des Südens" in Saarbrücken, the World Shop Sankt Ingbert, and the One World Shop Homburg run by the association "Miteinander-füreinander". The first meeting point is at 8 a.m. at the World Shop Saarbrücken in the Haus der Umwelt, Evangelisch-Kirch-Str. 8; departure is at 8:15 a.m. From there, the tour rides to the second meeting point, the World Shop St. Ingbert, Kaiserstraße 20, where participants meet at 9 a.m. and after a small refreshment in front of the store, continue at 9:30 a.m. From 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., time is planned for the action day „fair-regional-global“ during the Homburg Music Summer, followed by a joint return or individual return by train.
In these shops run by dedicated volunteers, attention is drawn to the unequal distribution of wealth on this earth: through the sale of products from Fair Trade, educational work, and participation in campaigns. In Homburg, there is a guided tour of the market on the historic marketplace. Partner organizations of the One World Shop Homburg, as well as booths with Bliesgau products, educational actors, biosphere schools, and many other initiatives from the region, will be presenting themselves. In addition to activities related to the 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), there will also be regional and fair products to discover, musically embedded in the Homburg Music Summer. The planning and implementation of the bike tour is supported by the One World Specialist Promoter for Fair Trade at the Fairtrade Initiative Saarland.
