Exuberant fair days took place in Ottweiler from September 2 to September 6, 2020. On Friday evening, the keg tapping in the area "Im Alten Weiher" attracted lively public participation. Local mayor Michael Schmidt mastered the keg tapping with few strikes. Schmidt welcomed guests both young and old. Thomas Sonnier, the first chairman of the Saar Association of Showmen, wished the fair activities a successful course. Unfortunately, three showmen had to cancel at short notice due to Corona-related reasons. The Ottweiler local council also waived the showmen's donations for the senior afternoon this year, so that the showmen could get back on their feet after two difficult Corona years. Sonnier praised the city for still holding its fair in the old town and not relocating it like in other cities. Ottweiler would be a showcase town in Saarland.
The following fair days with their various activities – the Ziegelhütter Barn Fair and the traditional Hammelskerb in the Neumünster district – always prove to be well attended.
The Ottweiler Fair takes place on the Schloss courtyard and Im Alten Weiher until Tuesday, September 6, 2022. Tuesday is Family Day with reduced prices.
