Under the chairmanship of St. Ingbert's mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer, the jurors will decide on the awarding of the 20th Albert Weisgerber Prize for Fine Arts of the City of St. Ingbert on September 12, 2022.
In addition to the Saarland Art Prize, the Albert Weisgerber Prize for Fine Arts awarded by the city of St. Ingbert is one of the highly regarded honors in the state. According to its statutes, it is granted to artists who were born in Saarland or the neighboring cultural area or who have their permanent residence there. Furthermore, they must have an ongoing connection to Saarland. The jury may deviate from this in individual cases if the artist has significantly influenced the art scene in Saarland.
The award was established in memory of the painter Albert Weisgerber (1878 - 1915) from St. Ingbert, one of the most important German painters at the beginning of the 20th century, who gained high esteem and appreciation especially in his adopted home of Munich.
In addition to the prize money of 10,000 euros, the awarding of the prize, which will take place later this year in an official ceremony in late autumn, includes the organization of an exhibition by the city of St. Ingbert.
On September 12, 2022, the judges will once again discuss the nominated artists and ultimately make a joint decision. Both the art scene and the art-interested public can look forward to the judges' vote with anticipation.
