155 new confirmed COVID-19 cases – incidence rate rises slightlyThe Health Department of the Regional Association reports 155 new COVID-19 cases today (as of August 31, 4 p.m.). The number of newly reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days rises to 213.1 according to internal calculations. Most of the new COVID-19 cases, around 36 percent, affect the age group of 20 to 40-year-olds. With around nine percent, the proportion of those under 20 remains the lowest.
7-day total of new infections by cities and municipalitiesIn the past seven days, 698 people in the regional association have been infected with the coronavirus. Of these, 340 live in Saarbrücken, 69 in Völklingen, 56 in Püttlingen, 54 in Sulzbach, 41 in Quierschied, 35 in Riegelsberg, 31 each in Kleinblittersdorf and Heusweiler, 29 in Friedrichsthal, and 12 in Großrosseln.

In total, the regional association has 126,923 confirmed cases that have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 68,913 are in the state capital and 58,010 in the nine surrounding towns and municipalities.
