Citizens decide on the fiber optic network in Blieskastel – 40 percent contract signings required for expansion and free home connection
Blieskastel. Working from home instead of commuting, streaming series instead of linear television, internet telephony instead of landlines: Blieskastel has the opportunity to be connected to the fiber optic network in the coming weeks, allowing citizens to surf the internet at top speeds. To this end, Deutsche Glasfaser will launch the demand aggregation on 03.09.2022.
Deutsche Glasfaser is the leading fiber optic provider for rural areas in Germany and is driving the expansion of fiber optic networks quickly and unbureaucratically. For this, the company relies on the support of the citizens of Blieskastel. Until the deadline on December 10, 2022, residents in the expansion area can sign a contract with Deutsche Glasfaser as part of the demand bundling campaign to receive a free fiber optic connection directly to their house or apartment. If at least 40 percent of the connectable households in Blieskastel participate, nothing will stand in the way of the expansion.
The local administration and Deutsche Glasfaser have signed a cooperation agreement, thus taking the first step towards Blieskastel’s digital future. “As a digital supplier for the regions, our goal is to provide rural areas in Germany with comprehensive, stable, and future-proof infrastructure. We bring the experience and technological expertise required for rapid fiber optic expansion. In doing so, we see ourselves as a reliable partner for municipalities and local residents and rely on close collaboration,” said Christopher Drawer, project manager at Deutsche Glasfaser.
The new infrastructure takes into account all households in the expansion area and creates the conditions so that latecomers can still be connected. However, these households will then have to bear the connection costs themselves, which currently amount to 750 euros.
The Deutsche Glasfaser team provides detailed information about the network expansion, the available products and services, as well as the project progress at the information evenings on September 12 and September 19, 2022, both at 7 p.m., and at the specially set up service point: Kardinal-Wendel-Str. 29, 66440 Blieskastel (from September 13, 2022: Tuesdays from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.).
