At the nineteenth Waderner Book Week, everything in the Hochwald town revolves around books again from September 16 to 25. It will be literary journeys to Germany, Ireland, and even the moon! Included are readings, hikes, workshops, and films. The Book Week offers a full program for children, teenagers, and adults.

The kick-off of the book week this year is the Reading Night for children on September 16th. Esther Kuhn will read to kids between eight and eleven years old from her book "Magic Classifieds – Used Magic is Dangerous." Afterwards, the young book lovers and bookworms are invited to spend a magical night among the books at the city library. The participation fee is 6 euros. Registration is required.

The Verein Kultur am Tor in Nunkirchen offers two very special tours: On September 17th, Renatus vom Hügel leads a romantic lantern walk starting from Forsthof in Nunkirchen, and on September 23rd, there is a twilight fairy tale lantern walk for children starting from Schloss Münchweiler. Registration is required.

The beautiful historic cinema hall of Lichtspiele Wadern becomes the stage for a criminally thrilling reading: On September 24th, Andreas Schmidt will read from his new crime novel "Watten Zorn": A mysterious series of murders keeps the Northern Friesland Police Department on edge. A serial killer arranges his victims in public places. Apparently, he wants to attract attention with his sinister acts. Detective Wiebke Ulbricht and her partner Jan Petersen are in a race against the killer, who repeatedly manages to lead the police astray. In their latest case, the investigators engage in a breathtaking chase through the "Land between the Seas" and find themselves caught in the clutches of the serial killer. Watten Zorn is the fifth volume in Andreas Schmidt's popular coastal crime series. Small North German delicacies and musical accompaniment by pianist Manuel Olmscheid round off the reading both culinarily and acoustically. Tickets are available for 20 euros at the Bücherhütte Wadern, the town hall, or online at www.wadern.de.

With the film adaptation „Lieber Thomas“ about the writer Thomas Brasch and the children's cinema „der Mondmann“ in Wadern – a film adaptation of the story by Tomi Ungerer – books with their stories and narrators come to the big screen. In addition, the youth office Wadern-Weiskirchen is showing the film „Janosch: Come on, let's find a treasure“ as part of the district children's cinema.

Those who do not just want to watch or listen to stories, but would like to talk about literature with others themselves, are exactly right on September 19 at the “Reading-Book-Café” of the Wadern City Library. Over a cup of coffee, those present can exchange views on what they have read in a cozy group and also get to know new, interesting reading material. The city library also offers some readings and workshops for school classes.

Writing competition on the topic "Period"

The team of the Wadern Book Week chose the theme "Point" for the new writing competition. Original stories and poems on this topic were submitted. The best texts selected by a jury will be presented at the cinema on September 22nd.

At the Wadern Book Week, the Bücherhütte Wadern is of course a must. Beatrice Schmitt and her team invite you on September 20th to an Irish crime reading with Carolin Römer and the investigator Fin O'Malley, who is investigating again in "Alle Schuld will Sühne". In authentic style, there will be a whisky tasting with Angelika Lauriel. Tickets are available for 8 euros at the Bücherhütte.

Three days later, on September 23rd, it's Harry Potter meetup time again: young Harry Potter experts aged 15 and over can exchange ideas about the world of Hogwarts and engage in discussions together. Registration via email to the Bücherhütte is required.

The Wadern Book Week will conclude this year once again with the big book flea market. The event takes place on September 25th from 1 to 5 PM at the Herbert Klein Hall in Wadern. Book vendors can still register with the Cultural Office of the City of Wadern.
