Homburg and Bexbach (ots)
On the evening of August 13, 2022, at around 10:30 PM, police officers from the Homburg Police Station attempted to stop a white Mercedes with HOM district license plates on Bexbacher Straße in Homburg for a traffic check. The driver ignored all police signals to stop. Instead of stopping, he accelerated his car and fled towards Bexbach.
On the B 423 between Homburg and Bexbach, he overtook several vehicles despite oncoming traffic. These risky driving maneuvers endangered both the overtaken and oncoming road users. The speed driven was well over 100 km/h.
At the Bexbach town entrance, the fleeing car driver ignored a red traffic light and overtook several vehicles at excessive speed despite oncoming traffic. It is only thanks to the careful driving and evasive actions of the other road users that a collision was avoided.
In the Bexbach locality, the white Mercedes was eventually lost from sight, but the driver could still be identified. The reason for his flight was presumably the lack of the required driving license. Meanwhile, several investigations have been initiated against the driver.
The police are now asking other affected road users or witnesses who have made related observations or were even endangered to contact the police in Homburg at 06841-1060.
