187 new confirmed Corona cases – incidence drops below 210
The Health Department of the Regional Association reports 187 new corona cases today (as of August 29, 4 p.m.). The number of newly reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days decreases to 207.0 according to internal calculations. Most of the new corona cases, about 34 percent, concern the group of 40 to 60-year-olds. With around eight percent, the proportion of those under 20 years old is by far the lowest.
7-day total of new infections by cities and municipalities
In the past seven days, 678 people in the regional association have been infected with the coronavirus. Of these, 306 live in Saarbrücken, 79 in Püttlingen, 75 in Völklingen, 45 in Sulzbach, 36 in Riegelsberg, 33 in Kleinblittersdorf, 31 in Friedrichsthal, 30 in Quierschied, 28 in Heusweiler, and 15 in Großrosseln.
Corona case numbers since the beginning of the pandemic
In total, the regional association has 126,612 confirmed cases that have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 68,748 are in the state capital and 57,864 in the nine towns and municipalities in the surrounding area. The number of deaths related to the coronavirus stands at 798.
