From May 15 to June 4, 2022, the Stadtradeln Saar 2022 campaign took place. During the 21-day campaign period, participants were encouraged to cover as many kilometers as possible by bicycle to save CO2 for climate protection.
"Once again this year, we can be very satisfied with the results of Stadtradeln Saar. The number of participants increased once more, and the citizens were made more aware of cycling as a means of transportation in everyday life. We are especially proud of the very successful participation of the schools in Völklingen. In this case, the younger generation can be a role model for everyone."
In total, 262 cyclists participated in Völklingen this year, covering 47,043 climate-friendly bike kilometers and avoiding around 7 tons of CO2 compared to a car trip of the same distance.

The award ceremony of Saarland is scheduled for the end of November. In the School Cycling category, the Gemeinschaftsschule Völklingen II – Hermann-Neuberger-Schule and the Marie Luise-Kaschnitz-Gymnasium will be honored with 3rd and 4th place respectively among the most bike-active secondary schools.
