After a two-year break, it is finally that time again. From August 26th to 30th, the traditional Neunkirchen fair will take place at the Eisweiher festival grounds. The city of Neunkirchen particularly invites families, children, teenagers, and the young at heart to attend. The fair was officially opened this evening with the traditional tapping of the beer barrel by Mayor Lisa Hensler. For the mayor, it was the first barrel tapping of her term in office. She was supported by a representative from the Karlsberg Brewery. With only three strikes, she succeeded in tapping the barrel. Afterwards, the vocal duo "Canto Per Voi," led by Giuseppe Notarrigo, entertained visitors with Italian music. The traditional opening fireworks, which are donated annually by the showmen, had to be canceled at short notice due to the prolonged drought.
On Monday, the "Zwoa-Spitzbuam" will really heat things up with lively music, making the fair visit worthwhile for everyone. And as a special bonus, the fairground operators offer a family day on Tuesday with discounted prices.
The “Neinkerjer Kerb” is the last major fair in the eastern Saarland. This year, almost 50 stalls and rides provide fun and entertainment. In addition to eleven food stalls, crepe, ice cream, and sweets stands that cater to culinary needs, 12 rides for young and old await visitors, including a bumper car ride and the Ferris wheel “Ostseestern.” Unfortunately, the Neunkirchen fair is once again plagued by cancellations from numerous fairground operators this year.
