Children can go on a nature safari during a stroll through the orchard meadow at Haus Lochfeld on Sunday, September 11th. According to the organizer Zweckverband „Saar-Blies-Gau/Auf der Lohe“, the safari is suitable for children aged six to twelve years, and the participation fee is three euros.
Orchard meadows are among the most species-rich habitats in Europe. Up to 5,000 animal and plant species can be found on a single meadow. At 2:30 p.m., Martina Wagner, a specialist in nature and environmental studies, will start from the meeting point at the walk-in beehive at the main entrance with the children for an exciting, approximately one-and-a-half-hour observation tour through the orchard meadow of Haus Lochfeld. Armed with magnifying cups, the children will look closely during the nature safari, discover interesting things, and be amazed. The question of what biodiversity means for humans and our nutrition will also be answered. Through small games and tasks, fun is of course not neglected. At the end, the children will make an earwig house to take home together with Martina Wagner.
Pre-registration for the nature safari is possible until September 8th at the Saarpfalz district office in Homburg, phone (06841) 104-7228, or by email at
haus-lochfeld@saarpfalz-kreis.de. There you can also find more information about the offerings of the cultural landscape center and directions. Due to limited parking at the house, participants are asked to use parking spaces in the surrounding area or form car pools.
