At the beginning of July, the choir CantAnima held a benefit concert in the auditorium of the Waldorf School in Bexbach in support of Ukraine, raising the impressive sum of 2000 euros. During a choir rehearsal, the choir board presented the net proceeds in the form of a symbolic check to District Administrator Dr. Theophil Gallo. The amount will be deposited into the joint donation account of the Saarpfalz district, the German-Polish Society Saar, and Spohns Haus. "Not only was the concert a particularly memorable experience to listen to, but the amount raised also impresses me greatly, which may be explained by the words of the writer Victor Hugo: 'Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.' What happened on February 24th and still continues is difficult for us to put into words. The suffering of the Ukrainian population, the path the people there were suddenly forced to take – all of this must be heard. Therefore, my extraordinary thanks go not only to the choir CantAnima but also to all the listeners who contributed their part to the donation," emphasized District Administrator Dr. Theophil Gallo, the patron of the concert.
With a varied program that was entirely dedicated to peace, the choir CantAnima, under the direction of Nino Deda, together with the guest musicians, including the trio Wood & Keys, Nino Deda as solo pianist, and the trio Jung & Freylach, succeeded in winning over the audience for themselves and the cause. A Ukrainian singer, Radmyla Khmil, was also present. Together with the entire choir, a Ukrainian folk song was sung to not lose sight of the good in this world, even in this situation. Participants from Ukraine, led by the president of the Ukrainian Association of District and Regional Councils, Sergej Tschernov, spontaneously thanked the singers. "To be able to reach and engage people with singing in these times feels very special. It is heartening to see that we stand together and are all somehow connected," assured the district administrator, who is himself active in the Bexbach Schubert Choir.
For everyone who would also like to support, the donation account is set up at Kreissparkasse Saarpfalz, DE24 5945 0010 1030 6152 88, BIC: SALADE51HOM, recipient: SPK-KooperationDPG-SpohnsHaus.
