136 new confirmed corona cases – two more deathsThe health department of the regional association reports 136 new corona cases today (as of August 24, 4 p.m.). According to internal calculations, the number of newly reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days has dropped to 245.8. Most of the new corona cases concern the age group of 20 to 40-year-olds with around 35 percent. The proportion of under 20-year-olds is by far the lowest at around 7 percent.
The health department of the regional association was notified of two more deaths today. A week ago, an 89-year-old patient who had previously tested positive for the coronavirus passed away. On August 13, a 98-year-old patient died from or with Corona. The number of deaths related to the coronavirus rises to 798.
7-day total of new infections by cities and municipalitiesIn the past seven days, 805 people in the Regionalverband have been infected with the coronavirus. Of these, 411 live in Saarbrücken, 84 in Völklingen, 68 in Püttlingen, 43 in Heusweiler, 42 in Riegelsberg, 36 in Quierschied, 35 in Sulzbach, 32 in Friedrichsthal, 30 in Kleinblittersdorf, and 24 in Großrosseln.

In total, the regional association has 126,225 confirmed cases that have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 68,573 are in the state capital and 57,652 in the nine surrounding towns and municipalities.
