Regarding the statements made by Health Minister Jung on the mandatory vaccination for healthcare workers, the deputy state chairman and health policy spokesman of the FDP Saar, Dr. Helmut Isringhaus, states: "The mandatory vaccination for healthcare workers ends on December 31, 2022. The definition determining who is considered vaccinated changes on October 1, 2022. After that, many employees in hospitals, practices, and inpatient and outpatient care facilities will no longer be considered vaccinated. Nevertheless, Minister Jung wants to enforce a ban on entry for unvaccinated individuals, which would result in their absence from patient care."
This decision leads to obviously unintended hardships and must therefore be reversed immediately. In the current precarious situation of hospitals and care facilities, they cannot afford to do without staff, Isringhaus concluded.
