The Saarland FDP state chairman Oliver Luksic (Member of the Bundestag) welcomes the federal government's announcement to reduce the value-added tax on gas.
"After 2 relief packages, there will now be a third package. The rising energy prices and the gas levy caused by the war are a massive burden that must be alleviated. We do not want the state to become a beneficiary of the high energy prices."
It is now the responsibility of Economy Minister Robert Habeck to ensure that the reduction in value-added tax reaches the citizens. Energy providers must be obliged to pass on the VAT reduction directly to the consumers.
