Quick help promised
Local mayor Martin Moschel and deputy Guido Freidinger immediately assessed the situation on site and requested support from the municipal civil engineering office. Together with department head Stefan Niederländer and the civil engineering employee Alexander Linz as well as the affected residents, the situation on site was discussed and proposals to alleviate the flood situation were developed.
Promise kept
As a first step, a new rake was already installed in June of this year at the upper course of the Inntalbach to prevent the accumulation of debris that led to the clogging of the inlet in the lower course of the stream. As a second step, construction work has now begun in the lower course of the stream at the underpass of Wiesenweg. The existing inlet is being extended, and a new rake and a protective grid are being installed to enable the removal of driftwood in case of emergency. This construction measure is estimated to cost around €20,000 and is being carried out by a private construction company. The extensive construction work is expected to take about one week. As a third step, in connection with the planned renewal of the main road (Bliesdalheimer Straße) in October, cleaning of the shaft where the stream passes under the road is planned. Local head Martin Moschel and councilor Guido Freidinger inspected the ongoing construction work on site together with the affected residents. "Together, we thank the municipal civil engineering office for their quick and energetic support and naturally hope that these measures will prevent the regularly occurring floods expected in future heavy rain events."
