314 new confirmed COVID cases – Another deathThe health department of the regional association reports 314 new COVID cases today (as of August 18, 4 p.m.) – including reports from the weekend and the public holiday. The number of newly reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days has dropped to 240.9 according to internal calculations. A similarly low value was last reached in early June.
Another death has been reported to the health department of the regional association today. A 98-year-old patient died today from or with Corona. The number of deaths related to the coronavirus rises to 787.
7-day total of new infections by cities and municipalities In the past seven days, 789 people in the regional association have been infected with the coronavirus. Of these, 451 live in Saarbrücken, 70 in Völklingen, 51 in Sulzbach, 40 in Friedrichsthal, 36 each in Püttlingen and Quierschied, 35 in Kleinblittersdorf, 30 in Heusweiler, 26 in Riegelsberg, and 14 in Großrosseln.

In total, there are 125,177 confirmed cases in the regional association that have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 68,041 are in the state capital and 57,136 in the nine surrounding towns and municipalities.
