The newly erected wind turbines in the Merchingen district went online some time ago, but have only been operating at night during the summer months. "Since the turbines are neither owned by the Merzig district town nor by the Merzig municipal utilities, but are operated by Qair Deutschland GmbH (formerly Green City AG), the Merzig district town unfortunately has no influence on the operation of the wind turbines," explains Mayor Marcus Hoffeld. "Against the backdrop of the gas crisis and climate change, it is unsatisfactory for the Merzig district town, and incomprehensible for the citizens of Merzig, that the plant is idle during the day," Hoffeld continues. Therefore, Qair Deutschland GmbH has been contacted by the city with the aim of achieving continuous operation of the wind turbines as soon as possible.
