The program appears in print for the second time, praised by participants and citizens alike. Albrecht Hauck, Deputy Mayor for Associations, Sport, Tourism and Culture in St. Ingbert, states: "The VHS is an important building block in society".
"It offers a wide range of educational and leisure opportunities for young and old alike, which cannot be found anywhere else at this price-performance ratio. I can only recommend the VHS", he adds. Marika Flierl, director of the Biosphere-VHS, and Christa Strobel, leader of the VHS branches Rohrbach and Hassel, have once again put a lot of effort into shaping the program in print and online versions.
Although the program is identical in both versions, there may be up-to-date information and new courses available on the internet. The regular visit to the website www.vhs-igb.de is therefore worthwhile!Nebenstellenleiterin Christa Strobel (von rechts), Beigeordneter Albrecht Hauck, Maria Flierl, Leiterin VHS, Beiratsvorsitzender Albrecht Ochs and Claudia Pfaff, Mitarbeiterin der VHS-Geschäftsstelle, are happy about the freshly printed program for the autumn and winter season - © Martina Panzer
What new and special courses are offered? New courses include Foodsharing, Regional Cuisine, Cooking Courses for National and International Cuisine, and an Introduction to Single-Malt Whisky, which cater to people with a special interest in good and healthy Food and Cooking.

In Hassel, courses on Macramee, Tiffany, Soap Making, Sewing etc. are offered. Health offerings are not just a trend since the Coronavirus pandemic: Yoga, Forest Bathing, Heart Relaxation, Meditation, Happiness, Immune System Strengthening etc. are topics for health-conscious people. "These courses are led by medically trained and certified instructors", explains Marika Flierl and thus documents the quality of the offer.
But also skills such as Smartphone use, Cycling for Beginners and Wiedereinsteiger (Returners) are offered. In the autumn holidays, there will be a colorful program for children aged 6 to 12 from all nationalities. While the children are cared for, parents can participate in a companion program (Language Courses, Park Visits etc.).
Children who want to improve their English skills have the opportunity to do so playfully in the course "When English is Fun". New equipment for the repair café
In the Repair Café, different generations come together to counteract throwaway culture. They repair items once a month from the areas of Electronics, Bicycles, Computers, Welding, Picture Restoration and Sewing.
A special thank you goes to the Rotary Club St. Ingbert, which supports the Repair Café with a significant sum this year. For this money, new tools will be purchased.
Since mid-2022, the Repair Café takes place at the Ortsverwaltungsstelle Oberwürzbach, Hauptstr. 94. Something for every taste
The program really leaves no wishes unfulfilled. After the Coronavirus pandemic, participant numbers (3000 in 2021, with a tendency to rise in 2022) and instructor numbers (approximately 240 in 2022) have recovered.
The 164 courses offered in the second half of the year will be conducted at the request of participants and instructors in presence, online or as hybrid events (presence and online participation possible). "We have all become more open to online and new technologies", explains Marika Flierl. She and Christa Strobel thank all participants and instructors for their loyalty and support during the difficult times.
"That was not an easy time", they are both in agreement. The high quality of the educational offer is confirmed by various certifications of the Biosphere-VHS St. Ingbert valid until 2025.
The printed program can be found in many shops and public places for pickup. It contains, in addition to the course offerings, information on contact persons, event locations, travel, data protection etc., as well as an enrollment form. Further information, updated course offerings etc. can be found online at www.vhs-igb.de.
Enrollment for the courses is also possible here. Questions about the courses can be addressed to 06894/13-720 to 729 and vhs@st-ingbert.de and to the branches Hassel and Rohrbach at 06894/5908933 or vhs-hassel@gmx.de.
