In St. Ingbert, a preliminary round of the German Speedcarving Championship will take place next weekend. On the meadow around the patron saint Ingobertus at the entrance to Sengscheid, 29 artists from all over Germany will meet to carve unusual sculptures out of wooden logs.
A special highlight is the speedcarving, where chainsaw virtuosos showcase their skills in no time. Afterwards, the artworks are auctioned off directly on-site. Here, it is quite possible to snag a unique sculpture at a bargain price.
On Saturday, the speed carving takes place at 2 p.m., on Sunday already at 1 p.m. As a special highlight, a professional chainsaw "Husqvarna550xp MarkII" including a wooden sculpture will be auctioned on Sunday at around 4:30 p.m. The proceeds will go in full to the association "Runners Against Cancer e. V.," which collects donations for children with cancer.
The Giant Kreuzmann will enrich the Sagenweg at the Boot in the future
The local council of St. Ingbert-Mitte is financing from its budget the approximately 2.50 m tall giant Kreuzmann, which is being created as a unique piece by one of the chainsaw artists.
The program starts on both days, August 13th and 14th, at 10 a.m. More information about parking options and special bus services can be found at www.st-ingbert.de
The organizer is the Heimat- und Verkehrsverein St. Ingbert e. V. in cooperation with the local council of St. Ingbert-Mitte.
