Niederlosheim (OTS)
Awakened by a loud bang in her apartment on the night of Saturday, August 6th, 2022, exactly at midnight, a resident of Niederlosheimer Straße in Niederlosheim ran outside and saw a completely damaged car lying on the street. She immediately called the police. The officers from the Nordsaarland police station who responded to the accident found that a novice driver from Rhineland-Palatinate had veered off the road to the left while driving towards Nunkirchen in a curve and collided with a wall and a flagpole. The accident vehicle came to rest about 150 meters later on the opposite lane. This circumstance suggests that the novice driver was traveling at an inappropriate speed. At the accident scene, a driver traveling in the opposite direction from Lebach reported having to swerve to avoid the skidding car to prevent a collision. A breathalyzer test on the uninjured driver, who admitted to alcohol consumption, revealed a value in the range of absolute incapacity to drive. After providing a blood sample, the man had to surrender his driver's license. He is now under investigation on suspicion of endangering road traffic.
