Regarding Mrs. Rehlinger's statements to the dpa, the deputy state chairman of the FDP, Dr. Helmut Isringhaus, says: "The FDP is a liberal party that considers both the health interests and the individual freedoms of citizens. If one were to follow the recommendations of the Prime Minister, one would pursue a policy based on polls across all political issues. One could then also dispense with votes and party conventions and delegate the political mandate to Insa or Allensbach."
The FDP Saar supports the course of the federal party, which consists of a very balanced policy that takes into account both the physical and mental health of people as well as their personal freedoms.
Isringhaus continues: “It is of course not true that we are pursuing a 'zero-protection strategy,' as Mrs. Rehlinger is said to have claimed. I must strongly reject that. However, state-mandated protection must be qualitatively and temporally well thought out and targeted. Federal Health Minister Lauterbach tends to create confusion and panic with his statements. I am confident that the new Infection Protection Act will be presented soon. Then ministers, the STIKO, and the traffic light coalition must work together in a coordinated manner.”
