The health department of the regional association reports 432 new coronavirus cases today (as of August 1, 4 p.m.). According to internal calculations, the number of newly reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days continues to decrease to 596. A similarly low value was last reached about six weeks ago and is certainly due to the holiday period.
Three deaths were reported to the health department today – two of them reported late. Between March 5 and July 24, a 78-year-old, a 74-year-old, and a 73-year-old patient died from or with Corona. The number of deaths related to the coronavirus rises to 783.
7-day total of new infections by cities and municipalitiesIn the past seven days, 1,952 people in the regional association have been infected with the coronavirus. Of these, 1,052 live in Saarbrücken, 184 in Völklingen, 116 in Püttlingen, 109 in Sulzbach, 97 each in Heusweiler and Kleinblittersdorf, 93 in Quierschied, 80 in Friedrichsthal, 68 in Riegelsberg, and 56 in Großrosseln.

In total, there are 122,819 confirmed cases in the Regional Association, tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 66,705 are in the state capital and 56,114 in the nine towns and municipalities in the surrounding area.
