The FDP Saar questions the decision of the state government to only teach the new grades 5 and 6 according to the G9 model. Grades 6-8 should also be taught in the nine-year gymnasium track.
Deputy State Chairman Marcel Mucker: “It is incomprehensible why only the new 5th and 6th grades are to be taught in the 9-year model. The deepening of the learning material should rather be offered to as many grades as possible. Especially for repeaters in the higher grades, otherwise, a great uncertainty arises as to whether they will continue to be taught according to the 8-year or the 9-year model in the event of repetition. Additionally, an unfavorable incentive is created to voluntarily postpone to the 6th grade in order to be able to learn under G9.”
“Incidentally, this model generates short-term savings for the state budget, as initially fewer weekly hours are required in the G9 stream at the lower secondary level,” Mucker continued.
