When transmitting cases from the health departments through the responsible state authorities to the RKI, there is a reporting and transmission delay of several days, both in the raw case numbers and in the 7-day incidence rates. The differences also arise from different collection times and various transmission routes. COVID-19 cases that meet the RKI case definition must be electronically transmitted by the responsible health department to the responsible state authority no later than the next working day and anonymized by the State Competence Center for Infection Epidemiology (LKI) to the RKI no later than the next working day.
The basis for the case numbers reported by the RKI are the notifications from the health authorities up to midnight of the previous day. The basis for the case numbers reported by the MASFG are the notifications up to 4 p.m. of the previous day. All transmitted numbers represent a current and preliminary data status. Changes are reserved.
