The Health Department of the Regional Association reports 449 new corona cases today (as of July 21, 4 p.m.). According to internal calculations, the number of newly reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days thus decreases to 943.2. Of the 449 new corona cases, almost 36 percent affect the age group of 20 to 40 years and 32 percent the group of 40 to 60 years. With around 14 percent, the share of those under 20 years remains the lowest.
The health department was informed of two deaths today. On July 12th and July 14th, an 87-year-old patient who had previously tested positive for the coronavirus passed away. The number of deaths related to the coronavirus rises to 770.
7-day total of new infections by cities and municipalitiesIn the past seven days, 3,089 people in the regional association have been infected with the coronavirus. Of these, 1,692 live in Saarbrücken, 378 in Völklingen, 195 in Püttlingen, 157 in Kleinblittersdorf, 124 in Sulzbach, 121 in Riegelsberg, 117 in Quierschied, 107 in Heusweiler, 101 in Großrosseln, and 97 in Friedrichsthal.

In total, there are 119,727 confirmed cases in the regional association that have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 65,025 are in the state capital and 54,702 in the nine surrounding towns and municipalities.
