The health department of the regional association reports 711 new corona cases today (as of July 20, 4 p.m.). The number of newly reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days thus rises to 990.8 according to internal calculations. Of the 711 new corona cases, nearly 32 percent affect the 20 to 40-year-old age group and 31 percent the 40 to 60-year-old group. With around 15 percent, the proportion of under 20-year-olds remains the lowest.
The health department was informed today of another death. On July 19, a 79-year-old patient who had previously tested positive for the coronavirus passed away. The number of deaths related to the coronavirus rises to 768.
7-day total of new infections by cities and municipalitiesIn the past seven days, 3,245 people in the regional association have been infected with the coronavirus. Of these, 1,789 live in Saarbrücken, 366 in Völklingen, 193 in Püttlingen, 165 in Kleinblittersdorf, 146 in Sulzbach, 134 in Quierschied, 125 in Riegelsberg, 119 in Heusweiler, 106 in Friedrichsthal, and 102 in Großrosseln.

In total, the regional association reports 119,278 confirmed cases that have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 64,787 are in the state capital and 54,491 in the nine towns and municipalities in the surrounding area.
