The health department of the regional association reports 675 new coronavirus cases today (as of July 19th, 4 p.m.). The number of newly reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days thus drops to 976.2 according to internal calculations. Of the 675 new coronavirus cases, nearly 33 percent still concern the age group 20 to 40 years old, and 32 percent the age group 40 to 60 years old. With around 16 percent, the share of those under 20 years old remains the lowest.
Two deaths were reported to the health department today. On July 16, a 91-year-old patient who had previously tested positive for the coronavirus passed away. A 60-year-old female patient died on July 17 from or with Corona. The number of deaths related to the coronavirus rises to 767.
7-day total of new infections by cities and municipalitiesIn the past seven days, 3,197 people in the regional association have been infected with the coronavirus. Of these, 1,713 live in Saarbrücken, 360 in Völklingen, 193 in Püttlingen, 158 in Sulzbach, 153 in Kleinblittersdorf, 150 in Quierschied, 129 in Riegelsberg, 122 in Heusweiler, 111 in Großrosseln, and 108 in Friedrichsthal.

In total, the Regional Association has 118,567 confirmed cases that have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 64,361 are in the state capital and 54,206 in the nine surrounding towns and municipalities.
