The Health Department of the Regional Association reports 769 new coronavirus cases today (as of July 18, 4 p.m.). The number of newly reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days thus slightly decreases to 1,014 according to internal calculations. Of the 769 new coronavirus cases, nearly 33 percent concern the age group of 20 to 40-year-olds and 32 percent the group of 40 to 60-year-olds. With around 17 percent, the share of those under 20 remains the lowest.
The health department was notified of a death today. On July 16, a 62-year-old patient who had previously tested positive for the coronavirus passed away. The number of deaths related to the coronavirus now totals 765.
7-day total of new infections by cities and municipalitiesIn the past seven days, 3,321 people in the regional association have been infected with the coronavirus. Of these, 1,738 live in Saarbrücken, 359 in Völklingen, 216 in Püttlingen, 179 in Kleinblittersdorf, 166 in Sulzbach, 147 in Quierschied, 140 in Heusweiler, 136 in Riegelsberg, 122 in Großrosseln, and 118 in Friedrichsthal.

In total, there are 117,892 confirmed cases in the regional association that have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 63,994 are in the state capital and 53,898 in the nine surrounding towns and municipalities.
