„Oh, this is so wonderful, finally being able to celebrate a festival again," sighs a resident of Rentrisch on the square in front of TuS Rentrisch e.V., surrounded by colorful food and drink stalls, beaming to compete with the sun. In front of her is the stage where local representative Dieter Schörkl, mayor and patron of the 2022 festival Nadine Backes, and the chairman of the local heritage association open the festival on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 6 p.m. „We are all incredibly happy that we can celebrate together again this year. People can have fun together again and the clubs have the opportunity to improve their club funds,“ says Dieter Schörkl with joy, and Nadine Backes praises: „A big thank you to all the organizers!“ This is followed by three salute shots from rifles and three more from the cannons of the St. Ingbert Shooting Club 1897 e.V. – real bursts of joy after two years of “village festival abstinence.” Afterwards, Nadine Backes taps the beer keg and then the festivities can begin. The square quickly fills up, and shortly after, the Rentrisch music club performs on stage. State parliament member Stephan Toscani has also come to the opening. As patron of the last festival in 2019, he makes sure not to miss enjoying the event: „It’s a true family gathering. Everyone knows everyone and guests are warmly welcome. I just feel comfortable here.”
The motto of the festival: Daycare centers and clubs. "All Rentrisch clubs have put a lot of effort into preparation and organization," says Marc Braun happily. "Otherwise, this wouldn’t be possible here. We really stick together well!" The neighboring daycare centers "Am Spellenstein" and "Am Stiefel" will be the focus on Saturday from 11 a.m. Both facilities are open and can be visited, and a colorful children's carousel is spinning in the yard. And who will win the grand prize at the raffle booth? With lunch, cake, coffee, and children's cocktails, the physical well-being of both small and large visitors is well taken care of. On Saturday evening, the Mannheim band "Bongaz Show" will really heat things up for the adults. From Friday evening to Sunday, a soccer tournament will take place on the adjacent sports field.
Sunday begins with an ecumenical church service; afterwards, the people of Rentrisch and visitors are very well catered for by the clubs. The morning pint is once again accompanied by the Rentrisch Music Association. After three days of celebrations, local mayor Dieter Schörkl counts a total of about 3,500 visitors – And throughout the whole weekend, you could hear from every corner: "I'm so glad – another village festival!"
