In recent years, children in particular have had to cut back on many leisure activities due to the coronavirus. Therefore, the Children and Youth Office of the city of Homburg has made a special effort to put together a diverse program for children and young people this summer, ensuring there is something for everyone.
In the first week of the summer holidays, a climbing day will take place at Fun Forest at Jägersburger Weiher. On July 26th from 9 a.m., children and teenagers aged 11 to 16 who have a reach height of 1.70 m can climb independently and with other interested participants. The group will be guided by experienced scouts from the climbing park. The event is planned to end at 2 p.m. The cost is ten euros per person.
On August 2nd and 3rd, the adventure continues boldly: at 9 a.m. on both days, a self-assertion and self-defense course for 8- to 12-year-olds will start. It ends at 1 p.m. on both days and takes place in the gymnasium of the Luitpold School. Instructor Stefanie Bader introduces meaningful behaviors for confident appearances, as well as specific techniques for emergencies. The cost is 20 euros for both days.
On August 12th, the entire family with children from six years old is invited to the bat walk at the Jägersburg Castle Pond to experience the twilight-active animals in their natural environment and learn some new things under the expert guidance of Markus Kees. The tour starts at 9 PM and ends around 10 PM. A participation fee of three euros per participant applies. Children cannot participate alone.
From August 8 to 12 and from August 16 to 19, this year’s children’s holiday fun event for young people between 6 and 13 years old will take place, this year at the Bruchhof primary school. Excursions are planned for both weeks, e.g. to the Gerhardsbrunn animal sanctuary and the Saarschleife treetop path. Various workshops and activities are planned on site in Bruchhof. More information is available by phone.
Care begins daily at 8 a.m. and ends around 4:30 p.m. Participation costs 80 euros for August 8 to 12 (5 days) and 65 euros for August 16 to 19 (4 days). The weeks can be booked individually. Lunch is provided by the organizer in the form of a hot meal; participants must bring their own breakfast. Drinks and snacks are provided.
Individual events are still planned for the last two weeks of the holidays, each for children and young people between 6 and 16 years old: On August 22nd, the trip goes to the Senckenberg Museum of Natural History in Frankfurt, where participants can explore the amazing world of dinosaurs, including excavation and research workshops. Costs amount to six euros.
On August 26th, we are going to the Tripsdrill adventure park, the trip costs 20 euros. It is a great destination especially for action enthusiasts. And on August 30th, a fantastic day at Luisenpark in Mannheim is planned, with a fee of six euros. Relaxing, experiencing and cooling off are on the agenda there, and above all, there is plenty of new things to discover.
The care is provided by staff members of the Children and Youth Office as well as qualified volunteer caregivers. The last three offers take place in cooperation with the Caritas Children's Center Erbach and are jointly supervised.
