The Health Department of the Regional Association reports 663 new COVID-19 cases today (as of July 13, 4 p.m.). According to internal calculations, the number of newly reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days thus decreases to 1,025.3. Of the 663 new COVID-19 cases, approximately 32 percent each affect the groups aged 40 to 60 and 20 to 40. With around 16 percent, the share of those under 20 remains the lowest.
Two deaths were reported to the health department today. On June 30th, a 70-year-old patient who had previously tested positive for the coronavirus passed away. On July 6th, an 87-year-old patient died from or with Corona. The number of deaths related to the coronavirus has risen to 764.
7-day total of new infections by cities and municipalities In the past seven days, 3,358 people in the regional association have been infected with the coronavirus. Of these, 1,643 live in Saarbrücken, 406 in Völklingen, 254 in Püttlingen, 173 in Kleinblittersdorf, 169 in Sulzbach, 153 each in Großrosseln and Heusweiler, 151 in Quierschied, 138 in Riegelsberg, and 118 in Friedrichsthal.

In total, the regional association has 116,033 confirmed cases that have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 62,998 are in the state capital and 53,035 in the nine surrounding towns and municipalities.
