In the predominantly existing combined sewer system, not only wastewater but also uncontaminated rainwater is discharged. This causes higher expenses regarding wastewater disposal and wastewater treatment in the sewage treatment plant.
The wastewater treatment plant of the municipality of Rehlingen-Siersburg has been working for several years to relieve its sewers and the environment by separating rainwater and wastewater. New development areas are - as far as possible - only connected using a separate sewer system.
Through the funding guideline "Aktion Wasserzeichen," the municipality of Rehlingen-Siersburg now has the opportunity, in cooperation with the Saarland Ministry of the Environment, to support citizens who want to manage their rainwater through the municipal subsidy program. Applications are submitted via the wastewater utility of the municipality of Rehlingen-Siersburg to the Ministry of Environment, Climate, Mobility and Consumer Protection.
