The Saar-Moselle Cup, initiated last year by Mayor Daniel Kiefer and his Perler counterpart Ralf Uhlenbruch, is entering its second round this year.
Since July 6th, 6 men's teams and joint teams from the municipalities of Mettlach and Perl have been competing in 2 groups for the trophy donated by the two mayors and a cash prize.
Participating this year in Group A are SG Merzig/Mettlach, SCV Orscholz, and SG Perl/Besch, as well as VfB Tünsdorf, SG Obermosel, and SG Leuktal in Group B.
The final match between the best teams of both groups will take place on July 18 at 7:00 PM at the Brühlstadion in Tünsdorf! The two finalists will be determined on Wednesday evening, July 13. You can find information on social networks as well as on www.mettlach.de. After the game, the trophy will be presented to the winner by the two patrons.
Mayor Daniel Kiefer is happy to be able to hold the tournament again this year and personally supervise it: "It is a matter close to my heart to accompany this tournament. Through sports and socializing, our communities come closer together. The cooperation with my counterpart from Perl is always a great pleasure for me as well. I think it’s great that with the Saar-Mosel Cup we have now created a shared tradition that will hopefully far outlast both of our terms in office."
Save the date now: On July 30, 2022, the "Alte Herren" tournament within the Saar-Mosel-Cup will take place in Oberleuken from 4:30 PM! Under the patronage of the mayors of Mettlach and Perl, the AH teams of SG Obermosel, SCV Orscholz, VfB Tünsdorf, and SG Perl/Besch will compete there for the challenge cup and a cash prize.
Admission to all games is free. Proof of vaccination or a test does not need to be presented according to the currently valid Corona regulations.
