The municipality of Mettlach has been actively engaged in workplace health management (WHM) for several years, "because for the diverse municipal operational areas – whether in administration, the public works yard, forestry, or the daycare center – we need healthy and motivated staff," says Mayor Daniel Kiefer. The WHM is now to be further professionalized and expanded.
In a cooperation agreement signed by Mayor Daniel Kiefer and IKK board member Prof. Dr. Jörg Loth, it is stipulated, among other things, that the IKK will support the municipality in analyzing the initial situation, planning new occupational health management (OHM) offers, and conducting tailored training or educational measures. For board member Prof. Dr. Loth, the new cooperation agreement expresses that the municipality and IKK want to make an effective contribution to improving employee health. The IKK aims to and can support this with its expertise and individually tailored offers.
In May, the Health Day of the municipal administration took place in the Cloef-Atrium in Orscholz. Under the guidance of the cooperation partner IKK, participants received a lot of information in lectures on the topics of workplace health promotion and strengthening of the back. The content of the event also included the practical implementation of compensatory exercises, which were carried out together by all participants in the Cloef-Atrium.
Following the Health Day, employees had the opportunity to undergo a health check conducted by the IKK. In a personal appointment with the health advisor, a mobility measurement of the spine took place in the town hall, kindergarten, and construction yard through the performance of various exercises. This enabled employees to identify potential weaknesses and receive training steps to compensate for physical deficits.
