On Sunday, July 24, 2022, at 3:00 pm, an open tour with a lecture about the medieval burial site located there will take place at the former Wörschweiler Monastery. The speakers Jörg A. Künzer (Blieskastel) and Michael Emser (City of Homburg) will be on site. After a 20-minute walk from the center of Wörschweiler, the ruins of the former Cistercian complex open up to you on the plateau of Klosterberg. There, you will receive exciting detailed information about the excavations with tombstone and skeleton finds of the counts, knights, and abbots buried in the monastery. This will be further illustrated by existing photographic material. Furthermore, the Gothic inscriptions and coats of arms on the original slabs in the former cloister will be clearly explained. A condition report of the tombstones as well as already completed restoration measures will also be discussed. After this exclusive tour, both speakers will be available to answer your questions. Parking is available at the Römermuseum in Schwarzenacker and in Wörschweiler. Good footwear is strongly recommended.
Meeting point: 3:00 PM, Wörschweiler Monastery.
