In the national competition "Our Village has a Future," Bliesranbach won the decision at the regional association level. The district of Kleinblitterdorf narrowly prevailed over Lauterbach and Lummerschied, who share second place. The decision was made after an inspection of all three participating villages by a 12-member jury. The winning village receives a prize of 1,500 euros, while the two runners-up each receive 1,000 euros. With this, Bliesranbach will represent the regional association in the state final this autumn.
The comprehensive criteria and requirements of the competition are uniform nationwide. In addition to a high level of commitment from the local communities, the participating villages must impress with a homogeneous architectural design, integration into the natural and landscape environment, as well as social, cultural, and economic activities. Bliesransbach excelled in all evaluation areas and highlighted a balanced and future-oriented development in its village presentation. The village community demonstrates an above-average level of initiative, supported by a broad base of the population. The Village Associations Day and regularly held village meetings for young and old are just two examples of this. Furthermore, the jury was particularly impressed by the village’s integration into the landscape, the availability of jobs, the integration of new residents, and the activity of the village youth. The construction of a large photovoltaic system and the completed fiber optic expansion in Bliesransbach also ensure the village's future viability.
Lummerschied nominated for special award
The Saarland Minister for Environment and Consumer Protection is also awarding a special prize endowed with 2,500 euros. This year, it will be given for an especially creative and innovative village community project in the area of "Sustainable Village Development." For this, the jury of the Regional Association nominated the "Interest Group pro Lummerschied."
